Szepsy Tokaji Aszú 6P

2008 - Istvan Szepsy Sr.

Variety:

Aszú

ABV:

11.5 %

Region:

Tokaj region

Character:

Sweet

A special blend of Furmint, Hárslevelű and Sárga Muskotály (Muscat Blanc) harvested from old vines. Produced with spontaneous fermentation, and aged to perfection in 300 l oak barrels for further 3 years.

It’s amber coloured and viscous with magnetic aromas of marmalade and dried apricot, fleshy quince, burnt caramel, nutmeg and dust. On the the palate, this wine’s considerable gravity, a honeyed elixir with an RS of 206 g/L has density, and yet, there is lightness and elegance too, felt along an acidic spine that is complicated by flinty smoky notes, crushed stones, walnut skins, and wild mushroom. The archetype of a big Tokaji aszú – complex, elegant, rich, layered and incredibly long.

Sugar content: 206 g/l

Acidity: 8.5 g/l

Content: 0.5 l

The winemaker

FATHER TO SON
The Szepsy family has been producing wines in the Tokaj region ever since the renowned aszú wine was born in the early 1500s. Due to this concurrence, the history of aszú and the Szepsy family became so intertwined that nowadays they are inseparable. The new generations of winemakers take pride in the achievements of their ancestors and always aspire to be worthy of the Szepsy name. Their mission is to produce the highest quality of grape in the vineyard without any compromise. Centuries-old knowledge and experience, passed from father to son, keeps this miraculous tradition alive.
